The Art: Meditations

So you know the subject of our documentary, Zakii, is soon landing in London. He’s an invited panelist for a timely discussion organised under #LSELitFest and through Southeast Asia Centre (SEAC).

We’ll be there to film Zakii as he shares his views on the state of the art world today, especially in Southeast Asia where economics and politics have louder voices and sometimes at art’s expense. It’ll also be a good chance to capture what the audience thinks about Asia, its diverse creative voices, and the art of the counter-cultural artist himself, Ahmad Zakii Anwar.

Speaking of Zakii’s art, here’s another strikingly tranquil yet gently unsettling piece:

Why is a Muslim artist painting Buddha heads? Any thoughts or comments?
